General Notes: Husband - John Alexander Patterson
He was born on the farm, in Mifflin township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where Dravosburg was later located, and there spent his early manhood. Shortly after his second marriage they moved to a farm in Armstrong County, but two years later located in Port Perry (later Bessemer), where Mr. Patterson engaged in the coal business. Later he moved to a farm of two hundred and forty-seven acres, on which Duquesne would later stand. The house in which he lived stood near the river and near where Edward Crawford's house later stood. After four years on that farm he moved to McKeesport, where he became proprietor of the Hiawatha, then the only hotel in the town. Later he retired to his boyhood home, Dravosburg, where he died. Both he and his wife rest in Versailles Cemetery, and both were members of the Presbyterian church.
