General Notes: Husband - William Long Keefer
He was educated in the common schools, and at the age of twenty years engaged in the coverlet and carpet business in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He spent about two years in Illinois, returned to his native county, and was married. He built the Good Intent woolen mill in 1856, and carried on the business thereafter. He spent one year in the oil business. He filled the office of school director for six years, and served several terms as township treasurer, having been elected by the Republicans. He was postmaster at Porterfield post office a score of years.
