General Notes: Husband - Erwin Rice
He and his wife were natives of Vermont, who located near North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania, and about 1841 removed to the vicinity of Sandy Lake, Mercer County.
He was well known for many years as a farmer and a shoemaker of Sandy Lake Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
One source states that he died June 27, 1859; however, it makes reference to him being alive after this date. The statement is made that he re-married, perhaps this is the death date of his first wife?
He and his wife reared ten children; all were still living in 1888.
In about 1841 [when his son, C. M. Rice was about three years old] he and his wife removed from the state of Vermont to the vicinity of Sandy Lake, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. His wife dying there about 1845, he moved to Findley township and there he later passed away.
