General Notes: Husband - John H. Daugherty

He was born in Center County, PA, and when a young man he removed to Blair County, where, as in Center County, he was engaged principally at farm labor, sometimes, however, doing carpenter work.
He was originally a Whig, later a Republican, in politics, and during the Civil War was a stanch Union supporter, enlisting from Altoona in the spring of 1862 in the 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry, and serving three years. His regiment was attached to the Army of the Potomac, served under Gen. Phil. Sheridan, and took part in a number of important engagements, including the battle of Manasses.
