He passed his early years on the farm. When a young man he engaged in teaming through different parts of western Pennsylvania.
He had a fine well-improved farm of 143 acres, situated in the northern part of Canton township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, which was equipped with comfortable, commodious buildings.He is a very active worker in the ranks of the Republican party, and was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Cross Roads, as was also his wife.
