General Notes: Husband - John Daubenspeck

Parker Twp, Butler Co, PA

He lived under the parental roof until he was twenty-six years of age. His father gave him a tract of 200 acres of rough land before he left home, to which he eventually added 350 acres more. He and his wife had nine children, three of whom were still living in 1883.


General Notes: Wife - Elizabeth Shakley


Her family was among the first settlers in Armstrong County, PA. Her mater­nal grandparents were among the pioneers of Greensburg, PA, who suffered severely from Indian depredations. On one of their incursions, several of the settlers were killed and her grandmother was scalped and left for dead, but eventually recovered and lived to a good old age. [HBC 1883, 410]
