General Notes: Husband - John Craighead

He was born near Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and when quite young came to Allegheny County, and was one of the very earliest settlers of Elizabeth borough. He started in life as a farmer, and afterward engaged in the lumber business with Maj. John Walker, which continued until his death. They built some of the first sawmills erected in the county. He was one of the first justices of the peace of the borough, and held that office until his death.

He and his wife reared a family of six daughters and five sons; one daughter and four sons were still living in 1889.
