General Notes: Husband - James Fleming Daily

Having learned the saddler's trade, he followed it as a journey-man in his native town for a number of years. On August 9, 1862, he enlisted as a private in Company I, One Hundred and Thirty-ninth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Captain J. R. Oxley, for service in the Civil war, and was honorably discharged on account of physical disability, March 25, 1863, in the vicinity of Falmouth, Virginia. In 1865 he entered the service of the Westmoreland Coal Company at Irwin, and for more than twenty years was engaged in weighing coal, at the same time attending to the saddlery work. Politically he acted with the Republican party and served as tax collector for one year. In his religious belief he was a Methodist.
