General Notes: Husband - Joseph McCoy
During the War of 1812 he served as First Lieutenant under Capt. Henry Evans. He died in the State of Louisiana, where he had gone for the purpose of purchasing a plantation upon which to locate his large family of sons. [HBC1883, 423]
His parents removed from Virginia to Mercer County, Pennsylvania, prior to 1800. He remained with his parents in Mercer County until 1802, in which year he settled in Mercer township, Butler County.
Little is known of Joseph McCoy, other than that he was an industrious man of good habits, a millwright by occupation. About 1820, he engaged to construct a mill in Louisiana, and was there taken sick [Yellow Fever] and died, leaving his wife with a family of nine small children. [HBC1883, 428]
He was born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and was an agriculturist. He was a soldier of the war 1812, and was a valued and honored member of the community in which he made his home. His death occurred in 1820, in Louisville, Kentucky.
General Notes: Wife - Isabella Craig
The Craigs were Virginians of Scotch ex-traction, a sturdy race of people, inheriting the promi-nent characteristics of their Scotch progenitors. [HBC1883, 428]
