General Notes: Husband - Silas Stevenson
He was born at Mt. Nebo, Mahoning County, Ohio, from which place he moved to Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, when it was still a part of Mercer County. He became a man of substance and political prominence and in 1858 he was elected sheriff of Lawrence County and served until 1861. He resided at New Castle until his death.
He married and settled near Hillsville, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, where he was a wagonmaker and acquired some village property. In 1857, he removed to a farm near New Bedford, where he followed agricultural pursuits; two years later he was elected sheriff of the county.
He was at one time sheriff of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and a grandson of his, Joseph S. Edwards, was the treasurer of Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
