Among the first settlers of the eastern part of Penn township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, was Matthew Cunningham. He had 300 acres of land, which, at his death, was divided equally among his six children. Four of them sold out their interests in the property to Hamilton and James, who settled, lived and died on the home farm.
