General Notes: Husband - James McKee
He was born near Congruity, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Later, he removed to Tarentum, and soon after this became part-owner of a steamboat running between Pittsburgh and New Orleans. He was drowned in the Mississippi River, at St. Louis, Missouri, while his boat was leaving that port for the South. It is said that he was knocked overboard by a carpenter's mate with whom he had had a heated argument. The body was never recovered.

She was educated at Grace Hill Seminary, Londonderry, Ireland.
She was living at Tarentum, Pennsylvania, when news came of her husband's death. She became a school teacher and taught for a number of years to support her family.
