General Notes: Husband - James E. Cowen


He was born and reared on the family farm at Hegarty's Cross Roads, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and after his marriage settled on the old homestead. In 1862, he en-listed in the Union service, and was killed at the battle of Chancellorsville. He left a widow and one son.
