General Notes: Husband - Joshua Strickler

He attended the subscription schools until eighteen years of age, when he went on the National road as a wagoner; but at twenty-eight years of age, he left the "Old Pike" and engaged in common labor. A few hundred [thousand?] dollars received from home gave him a fair start in life and in 1850 he moved on his wife's small farm. In 1860 he purchased a farm and paid for it with his own earnings. In 1880, after the sale of his father's farm, he became the beneficiary of his interest in his father's estate. By careful management and judicious investments, he accumulated many thousand dollars' worth of real and personal property.
He was a Republican in politics and a useful member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
