Could Adam Albert, when traveling from Virginia on horse back in 1806, have realized the future value of the land now known as the "Point," in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the pioneer without a doubt would have quickly accepted the offer of one hundred acres of land for the horse he was riding. But at that time horses, like many other things, were more valuable than even that large tract of land, and in his refusal he probably had the approval of his judgment. Continuing on his way, he located at Portersville, Pennsylvania, where he worked at the blacksmith's trade, later moving to Franklin township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, purchasing and cultivating a farm, following his trade in connection with his farming operations. His home was of log construction and there he passed the remainder of his years. His ancestry was German. [GPHWP, 444]
