General Notes: Husband - Boone Marion Hawthorn
Civil War: he enlisted as a private on February 4, 1864, in Company C, 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry (161st Volunteers) and was mustered into the unit on April 2, 1864. This was the same unit in which his brother, John Benton Hawthorn, had previously enlisted. He was wounded at Ream's Station, Virginia, August 23, 1864. He was discharged on January 25, 1865. He was later provided a pension for his civil war service and/or disability.
He and his first wife, Sarah, moved from Pennsylvania to Nebraska.
