General Notes: Husband - Dr. George Culbertson

He attended the common schools and finished his education in Greensburg academy. At sixteen years of age he went to Gidenburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, where he was engaged for some time as engineer at the oil wells in that county.
In 1876 he was one of the great throng of visitors to Philadelphia at the "Centennial." During the winter of the last-named year he was employed as a clerk by Joseph Taylor of Greensburg. In the spring of 1877 Mr. Culbertson removed to Missouri, where he engaged in farming with Foster Lightcap. Early in 1880 he and his brother Griffin went into the adjoining state of Nebraska, where they had charge of a large sheep ranch until the autumn of 1881. In October of that year George Culbertson returned to Greensburg, where, on the first of November, 1881, he entered as a dental student the office of Dr. J. S. Waughaman. In September, 1882, he entered the Philadelphia Dental college and attended during the winter term. He spent the summer of 1883 in practice with T. L. Smith, M. D., of Unity, and returned in the autumn of the same year to the Philadelphia Dental college, from which he was graduated in February, 1884. Soon after his graduation he established himself at Greensburg, where he continued successfully in the practice of dentistry.
He was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian church.

He was a prominent and skillful dentist of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he practiced his profession for many years. He moved in 1897 to Phillips County, Kansas, and for a number of years engaged in cattle raising and farming. In 1902 he moved to Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas, where he lived until his death. He was a trustee of the College of Emporia (Kansas) from June, 1903, to the time of his death. During this time he served as treasurer of the College for three years, from June, 1906, to June, 1909
