He received a good education at the schools of Waynesburgh, Pennsylania, and assisted with the farm work, and other interests with which his father was identified.
He was a Democrat, and filled almost every office in Nottingham township. He possessed a remarkable memory, and was a well-educated man. He was extensively engaged in the fruit-growing business.
He and his wife were early settlers of Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer of Nottingham township, and there owned land, reared a family and died in old age. He was a Democrat in politics, and both he and his wife were members of the Baptist church.
