General Notes: Husband - Joseph Cooper

He settled in the woods of Forward Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at a very early date, made a clearing for his cabin, and then set about the task of clear-ing the farm of its heavy growth of timber and underbrush. He had quite a reputa-tion as a wood chopper, and even in his old age could swing an axe with greater skill than the younger men.

The Cooper family each year held a reunion which was often attended by more than 400 members of the family.
