General Notes: Husband - Francis Cooley

He was born in New York, where he learned to be a silversmith. He was a prosperous farmer and took a lively interest in church-work, hauling the timber for the first church built in his neighborhood. In politics he was a democrat. For many years he conducted a stillhouse.

He settled in Baldwin township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in 1805.

He followed farming near New York City for several years, afterward moving to a place in Washington County, Pennsylvania, and finally settling on a farm in Allegheny County, near Pittsburgh, where he died. He was originally a Democrat, but afterward became a member of the Whig party, and in religion was connected with the English Lutheran Church.
