General Notes: Husband - Daniel Calvin Croft
He was educated in the public schools at Upper Strasburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and at the State Normal School at Shippensburg. Previous to entering the Normal School, he taught a public school for two terms in St. Thomas township, and, after completing his course, for seven terms. He then farmed for a number of years, was engaged in the creamery business for four years, and in the general merchandising business at Marion for ten years. In politics he was a Democrat. He served one term each as assessor and school director in St. Thomas township. In 1902 he was elected a County Commissioner of Franklin County, beginning his term in January, 1903. In the spring of 1904 he removed to Chambersburg. He was a member of the St. Thomas Lodge, and the Chambersburg Encampment I. O. O. F., and passed all the chairs. He was also a member of the Knights of the Golden Eagle, of St. Thomas, and of the Junior order of the American Mechanics, at Marion. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, and was a deacon and the leader of the choir for more than thirty years.
