General Notes: Husband - Capt. John Boston
He and his wife were of German descent.
He enlisted in the War of 1812 from Butler County.
He came from Winchester, Virginia, and was among the pioneers of Butler County, Pennsylvania. He settled on 225 acres of forest land, and built his log-cabin and cleared the land. He cut a cradle from the body of a large tree, dug it out, and in it rocked all of his children, besides many of his grandchildren. He was a very prosperous and progressive citizen of his community, and did much in bringing about the development and growth of the township. He lived to be over eighty years old.
He was born near Winchester, Virginia, there grew to manhood, and about 1805 came to Butler County, Pennsylvania, and purchased the claim of a Revolutionary soldier, consisting of 200 acres, in what is now Muddy Creek township. He was accompanied by his wife and several sisters. He cleared up a farm and resided on it until within a few years of his death, which occurred at the home of his son, Sheplar, in Portersville.
He was a soldier in the War of 1812, and was located in the Lake Erie country. He was a stanch Democrat, and one of the original members of the old Lutheran church of Lancaster township. [HBC 1895, 1266]
