General Notes: Husband - James Cooke, Esq.
He came to Penn's valley, Pennsylvania, in 1790, and in 1792 erected a saw-mill, and in 1793 built a grist-mill at Spring Mills, the mill standing on the old line between Northumberland and Mifflin Counties. He came from Lancaster County, and was a man of large means, owning slaves. He was a tall, slender, and dignified gentleman, a Federalist in politics.
