He was educated in the Clarion County, Pennsylvania, public schools, and later learned the carpenter's trade. He lived all his life in Clarion County, and there plied his trade. His death occurred when he was thirty-seven years of age. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and in politics a Republican.
