He located, in 1865, on the A. R. Sloan farm, where the latter kept a store several years after leaving Clarksburg. The warrant of this tract was issued in 1786, to Thomas, William and David Davis. The patent was granted in 1854 to A. R. Sloan. The patent of Mr. Cribbs' farm, known as the "Russell" property, was granted in 1797, to David Findley. The warrant was issued in 1784, to Robert Taylor.
