General Notes: Husband - Clark L. Henderson

He was born on a farm six miles west of Osceola, IA, in Ward township. His father re­moved to Seward, NE, in 1879, and on his death in 1882, Clark re­turned to Iowa and made his home with his Uncle Philander in Ward township. He was educated in Valparaiso University and in 1892, mi­grated to Rawlins County, KS, and purchased the right to a Govern­ment claim or homestead near Blakeman, Kan. After residing on the claim for five years, he secured a U. S. Government deed. He was engaged for a number of years in School teaching. He sold out his holdings in Rawlins County in 1920 and removed to Hays, KS, near which city he purchased a farm and engaged extensively in truck gardening until 1940 when he sold his farm and retired to Hays where he continues to reside. While in Rawlins County he was elected to township offices.

She died during the influenza epidemic. She had generously given her assistance to families stricken with the disease but, worn and tired from the help given to neighbors and her own family, she herself became a victim.
