Of Scotch parentage, he was born in County Donegal, Ireland, and emigrated to America prior to 1728, with several of his sons. [CBEDC, 96]

He was the first lineal ancestor by the name of Crawford to come to America. He came prior to 1728 to Pennsylvania with his children.
