He was educated at the Jefferson College, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, where he took the degree of B. A., and was later editor of the Clinton County Democrat from 1847 until 1852. Subsequently he was editor of the Kansas Farmer and Daily Monitor, at Fort Scott, Kansas, and died at Grand Junction, Colorado. He was the founder of Fort Scott, Kansas, and Grand Junction, Colorado.
