General Notes: Husband - James Collins

The source gives two different years for his birth.

He learned the tanners trade and worked at that business at Jacksonville, Westmoreland County. His wife's people, along with the Collins' were identified with the Long Run Presbyterian Church. In later years, he became a traveler and adventurer. He traveled extensively, working at his trade in different parts of the west, stopping for a time in Ohio, probably Cincinnati. Thence he went south and for many years was out of contact. He was supposed to have gone to Arkansas or Texas. In 1876, it was learned that he had settled in Little Rock, Arkansas. He lived for a number of years at Little Rock; carried on the tanning business; married and had a number of children. The War of the Rebellion had bought great loss and distress to him and his family. Their property was destroyed. The wife and one son died of brain fever, the aged father surviving several years. One daughter, the wife of Wm. C. Wilson, lived at Fayetteville, AR. Another daughter visited friends in Ottumwa, Iowa, in 1878, her name, Louannie, born about 1867.
