General Notes: Husband - James Hamilton, Sr.
He and his brothers came to America in about 1767, and after living in New Jersey, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Centre and Westmoreland counties, they came to Venango County in 1801 or 1802. [HVC 1879, 564]
He was a native of Ireland, who immigrated to America in 1775, and settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he remained a short time, thence removing successively to the vicinity of Carlisle, Cumberland County, and to Centre county. In 1801 he moved to Venango County and took up a tract of government land in Cherry Tree township. Here he lived until his death. [HVC 1890, 1046]
He immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1795, and settled in Center County, Pennsylvania. In 1801 he came to Venango County, accompanied by his father and three brothers. He located a mile west of Center schoolhouse, where Henry Buxton later lived, and there operated one of the first distilleries in the county. [HVC 1919, 347]
He was born in York County, Pennsylvania, about 1750, and with his family moved to Venango County, accompanied by his father. He purchased some five hundred acres of land there. In religious attachments he was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. He died in 1834. [BOB37JD, 454]
