General Notes: Husband - James McFarland

He was born in County Derry, Ireland, and emigrated to America at nineteen years of age [1816]. He located in Delaware for a short time, afterward removed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and after one year's residence in that city went to Westmoreland County, where he purchased a farm of ninety acres in Unity township. After several years residence he removed from that township to Salem township, where he resided about forty years, and then removed to Hempfleld township, where he died at the age of eighty-eight years.
He was a democrat, cast his first presidential vote in America for Andrew Jackson and held several of his township's various offices. He acquired considerable property during his lifetime.
