General Notes: Husband - John Clark Craig

After completing the curriculum of the public schools of Champaign, Illinois, he attended the Cham-paign Business College, from which he was graduated. Subsequently he taught school for one year in Illinois, and in 1887 came to Rim-ersburg, Pennsylvania. On his arrival in this city he entered the employ of W. H. Craig & Company, a general merchandise concern, and remained with them as clerk and bookkeeper until November 9, 1891, when the store was destroyed by fire. November 10, 1891, a new partnership was formed, called the W. H. and J. C. Craig Company, with John Clark Craig as junior member of the firm. The company conducted a general merchandise business, and the store attracted a large and lucrative patronage.
In politics Mr. Craig was aligned as a stalwart in the ranks of the Republican party, in the local councils of which he has long been an active factor. He served Rimersburg for two terms in the capacity of councilman, and for a number of years was a member of the board of school directors. In religious matters the family were zealous members of the Presbyterian church, to whose charities and benevolences they were liberal contributors.
