General Notes: Husband - John Craig
He was the first white child born at Craigsville, Pennsylvania, or as it was formerly called, Craigs-town. Of his one hundred and sixty acres of land, he cleared nearly all. He was a farmer and stock raiser. Mr. Craig was a man six feet tall, of erect form, and weighed one hun-dred and fifty pounds. He is well remembered both in connection with civic and religious affairs. Being an ardent Abolitionist, he re-joiced in the formation of the Republican party and the coming together under its stand-ard of men who had formerly been of diver-gent views. The first Republican convention in Armstrong county was held at Kittanning, September 30, 1855, and John Craig was vice-president. For many years he held the office of school director. For more than fifty years he was an elder in the Presbyterian church, of which his wife also was a member. Their mar-ried life lasted almost sixty-two years, and was wholly spent on the farm in West Frank-lin township.
