He was a graduate of Warren High School, and became corresponding member of the Scranton College of Mining and Engineering, a post which he occupied until the time of his death. In 1879, he and his sister organized the Allegheny Lodge of Juvenile Templars, I. O. G. T., in Warren, Pennsylvania, consisting of two hundred and fifty members; and in December, 1889, he organized a camp of the Patriotic Order of the Sons of America, of which he became district president and continued until his death. On October 10, 1911, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cobham presented to the P. O. S. of A., Washington Camp, No. 812, a beautiful flag in honor of their dead son.
In 1891, he aided in organizing the Pickett Extension Table Company, capital stock $125,000. He was the largest stock-holder, having $12,000 worth of stock; and was elected secretary, serving until the dissolution of the company. He then acquired the management of the Stony lonesome estate, on which he died. He had great artistic and musical talent. His class motto, "Not for ourselves." His own motto, "It pays to live a pure life."
