General Notes: Husband - Dr. Joseph Alexander Doyle, M.D.
He was reared in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, educated at the Thiel college, Greenville, and for two years was engaged in the glass business at Phillipsburg, later Monaca, Pennsylvania. He later learned the glass-blowers' trade with Bryce, Higher & Co., which he completed in 1882, and followed that vocation until 1889, when he began the study of medicine at Bellevue hospital medical college, New York city, where he remained for one year. Then he entered the medical department of the Western Reserve college, Cleveland, Ohio, where he was graduated in 1893, and at once commenced the practice of his profession at Homestead, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he met with much success.
He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church, and he was a member of the Allegheny county medical society and the Masonic fraternity. His political associations were with the republican party.
He attended the public and high schools of Pittsburgh, being graduated from the latter, and then entered Thiel College. After his graduation from Thiel College, he entered the Western Reserve Medical College at Cleveland, Ohio, and on the completion of his medical course he moved to Homestead, Pennsylvania, where he located and practiced medicine for many years. He then removed to the south, residing there for a time and practicing there, and in 1909 he came to Greenville, Pennsylvania, where he established himself and soon won a large and influential clientele. Immediately upon taking up his residence there, he became interested in the municipal affairs of the town, and was active in the work of the Board of Health, served as county physician, and following the resignation of Dr. B. E. Mossman, Jr., on the draft board, was active in his work.
