General Notes: Husband - John Agnew, Jr.
In 1829 he and his wife and family went to Elk-Paint Township (now Hominy Ridge) to teach school. In 1830 his father was living with them.
The location now called Hominy Ridge is in Barnett Township, Jefferson County. The area was called sometimes Elk Township, and other times Paint Township, Venango County. It was taken out of Richland Township, Venango County. One year it was referred to as Paint Township, Forest County. It must be remembered that it was a wilderness, and neighbors were far apart. It did not become Barnett Township, Jefferson County until 1840 when Jefferson County was formed.
He was reared east of the mountains, and came to western Pennsylvania in young manhood. After making a farm in Jefferson County he returned to Clarion County, where his last years were spent, his death occurring when he was eighty-four years old. [HJC 1917 II, 54]
General Notes: Wife - Ellen Bailey
She was reared by a family named Youngs.
