General Notes: Husband - Virtue Clark
He was a native of New Haven, Connecticut, where he was for several years engaged in the manufacture of brass spring clocks. In 1841 he removed to Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and located on a farm in Montgomery township.
He was born in Connecticut. In 1821, he migrated to York County, Pennsylvania, where he married. They settled in York County, nine miles from Harrisburg, near Lewisburg. By trade he was a silversmith and followed that as his principal vocation. In 1842, they migrated to Indiana County, purchased and settled on farm in Montgomery township. At that time the land there was but little improved. A small piece was cleared and a log cabin erected. In this they lived several years, later he erected a frame dwelling, in which he spent the remainder of his life. After his settlement in the woods he engaged in clearing, lumbering and farming to some extent.
