He was a native of Ireland, and among the pioneers of Mifflin township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he cleared and improved a farm, on which he lived and died. [HAC 1889 ii, 633]

From Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he moved to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where it is believed that he was slain by the Indians.
