She was postmistress at Elderton, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and one of the most capable business women of the borough. She was engaged in the general mercantile business there for a period of thirty-two years, and not only built up and maintained a good trade, but through good management and thrift acquired the ownership of the building in which the business was conducted. She attended the United Presbyterian Church.
