General Notes: Husband - Josiah Christy
He was born in Washington township, Butler County, PA, and grew to manhood on his father's farm. The year following his marriage he purchased 108 acres of the old homestead, on which he settled. He sold this in 1871 and bought another farm of ninety-seven acres, and later another of fifty-four acres. The family were members of the Lutheran church, and in politics, he was a Republican. In 1862 he enlisted in Company F, One Hundred and Thirty-fourth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served ten months, participating in the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
He and his wife had fifteen children, ten were still living in 1895.
