General Notes: Husband - John Christy, Esq.
About the year 1797, he settled upon a tract of land in Washington Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He built a snug log cabin soon after his settlement there, but he did not occupy it for housekeeping purposes until some two or three years afterward, when he married. While a resident of Westmoreland County, he served against the Indians, going as a substitute for his father, and he was well known as an early County Commissioner and a most capable Justice of the Peace, though he seldom collected his own fees. He was also an efficient teacher, and one of the earliest in the region where he lived.
He was a native of Ireland and came to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, with his parents in childhood, there grew to maturity, and afterwards settled near North Washington, Butler County. He served in the War of 1812, was an elder in the Presbyterian church for many years. [HBC 1895, 1021]
