He was dead in 1883. [HBC 1883, 390] He was living in 1883. [HBC 1883, 414]

He received a good educa­tion, and in early life followed teaching. In 1852 he engaged in farming, and in 1867, in partnership with Mr. McKnight, purchased a mill property. This partnership continued for four years, when he disposed of his interest in the mill, but subsequently bought it back, and thereafter operated it in connection with his farm of 400 acres. He was been a life-long Republican, and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which society he filled the office of steward, and trustee.
