General Notes: Husband - Elmer Allen Turner

He received his education at the public schools of Greenville, PA, and Grand River Institute, Austinburg, Ohio, which last school he attended three years. He spent about one year in Cleveland, Ohio, as a clerk in a furniture store; also clerked in Greenville up to 1884. He then engaged in the lumber business, near Sheakleyville with his father. They had a supply store for the men who worked for them and it was here where Mr. Turner and wife commenced housekeeping. August 10, 1885, he went to Greenville and engaged in the house furnishing business with J. F. Turner and S. W. Johnson, the firm being known as Turner and Company. In 1890 Mr. Turner and his brother purchased the other owners’ interest in the business and conducted it up to 1900, when he sold, but remained with his successor for about one year. Then he engaged as a traveling salesman, selling the Majestic Steel Range. In the autumn of 1901 he engaged with J. M. Wilson & Sons, of Sharon, he having charge of one of the departments up to February, 1904, when he located at Sharpsville. In May, that year, he bought the real estate business of T. O. Hazen, which also included his insurance business. Mr. Turner was appointed justice of the peace and deputy coroner, serving two years. Subsequently he was elected justice of the peace.
He was connected with the Odd Fellows order, having become a member of Alhambra lodge in Greenville. He was past noble grand. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias fraternity at Greenville, the Maccabees at Sharon and Sharon Lodge No. 1, Protected Home Circle. In his church relations he was connected with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sharon. Politically he was a supporter of the Republican Party.
