He attended school for the usual period in his boyhood but began industrial life at a comparatively early age. He engaged in farming and lumbering. In politics he was a Republican and was quite an active worker for his party. He was a member of the lodge of Redmen at Patchinsville, and of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Burnside.
