General Notes: Husband - Lewis Ellsworth Bailey

He enjoyed excellent school advantages, attending the Pleasant Grove school, the Curwensville public schools and for two years was a student in the University of Pennsylvania. Although well qualified for a professional life, Mr. Bailey preferred agriculture and returned and engaged in farming and dairying on the family homestead. Although his father built the farm house, Mr. Bailey put up a number of the other substantial farm structures and made many improvements. He carried on agriculture according to modern methods and was one of the active members of the Susquehannah Grange. He and his family were members of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Episcopal church, in which he was steward, and also a member of the board of trustees. In politics he was a Republican and served at times on the election board and one term as township clerk.
