General Notes: Husband - John B. Chambers


He followed farming until April 1, 1845, when he moved to Apollo, Armstrong County, PA, where he built the Apollo, a boat which ran between Apollo and Pittsburgh, on the Pennsylvania canal. He was engaged in the mercantile busiĀ­ness from 1849 until his death, and at the same time was freight agent. On May 29, 1871, he was elected president of the Apollo Savings Bank and was annually re-elected as long as he lived. He was a memĀ­ber of the First Presbyterian church of Apollo and contributed generously of his means to the erection of churches of all denominations. [BHCWC 1890, 719]
