General Notes: Husband - Warren Chaffee
Civil War: he was drafted March 4, 1865, and served in the One Hundred and Second Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry; he was discharged July, 1865.
After marriage he and his wife lived for two years at Lowville, Pennsylvania, where he operated the Lowville Mills, and superintended a Sunday school; then for six months he carried on a shingle mill at Hatch Hollow, where he met with a serious accident and nearly lost his left arm. He then bought a farm in Wayne Township, Erie County, on which he lived five years; thence moved to Amity Township. In 1881, they came to an Amity Township farm of seventy acres of well-improved land.
He was a supporter of the Republican party, acting several times as County Committeeman. He held various local and township offices: Road Commissioner, School Director in Wayne township; has been School Director, Township Assessor, Constable, and Auditor of Amity Township. Mr. Chaffee, with his wife, were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, in which he was Class Leader about eight years, and Superintendent of Hatch Hollow Sunday School for some years.
