General Notes: Husband - Dr. Isaac Clugston
He was born near Marion, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and was reared to farming pursuits. When a young man he moved to Chambersburg and studied medicine with Dr. Randall. Later he located at Dry Run, and when a single man began the practice of his profession. He married and remained some years in Dry Run, then moved to Shirleysburg, Huntingdon County, lived there fifteen years, and then returned to Spring Run. He engaged in farming, also carried on a store, and was postmaster there for several years, and in 1864 moved to Doylesburg, where he engaged in merchandising until his death. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and politically a Democrat. He served as postmaster from 1864 until his death in 1879. He was the father of twelve children, eleven of whom lived to be grown.
For several he years carried on the hotel business, having the only place of accommodation for the traveling public in the town.
