He was brought to Crawford county, PA, in 1830, by his grandfather, David Crouch. He remained there two years, and then moved to Canal township, Venango county, in 1832.

With his first wife he had four children, one son and three daughters, the son was deceased before 1879.
With his second wife, he had one daughter, deceased before 1879.
With his third wife, he had one son.
