General Notes: Husband - William Floyd Clinger
He attended the schools of his native district of Pennsylvania, and in 1910 was graduated from Tidioute High School. In 1914 he took the degree of Bachelor of Science at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1916 he became publisher and editor of the "Warren Mirror," which he subsequently sold in 1921. He became associated, then, with the oil industry, organizing the Clinger Oil & Gas Company in Tidioute in 1922, associated in it with other members of the Clinger family. Aside from his work with this company, he was associated with the Superior Oil Company and the Warren Bank & Trust Company, both of Warren.
He was president of the board of education of Warren, a member of the State Council of Education of Pennsylvania, and a director of the Pennsylvania School Directors' Association. He was also a past president and director of the Pennsylvania Grade Crude Oil Association and an ex-director of the American Petroleum Institute. He belonged to the Conewango Club of Warren and the Conewango Valley Country Club, and was a past president of the local Rotary Club and a member of the Warren County Historical Society. He was also a member of the Friars' Senior Society of the University of Pennsylvania and of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, which he joined in his student days. In leisure time he enjoyed the out-of-doors, being particularly fond of fishing and hunting.
